What is Amazonia-1

Amazonia-1 is a 700-kilogram optical earth observation satellite that has been developed by Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais, INPE Brazil. The satellite will be launched to Sun-synchronous orbit. The camera onboard is with 3 bands in VIS and NIR 1 band and 40m resolution. This satellite can take images of Earth in every four days.

The Satellite was supposed to be launch by VLS-1, Brazilian Space agencies main Satellite vehicle but the project was cancelled due to high expenditure and poor results.

This 53rd mission of PSLV is also the first commercial mission by NSIL (New Space India Limited), an Indian government company. This will be the Indian Space Research Organisations (ISRO) first mission of the year 2021.
